X-Ray Service Pack 2

It is coming up to a year since we launched X-Ray 4.0 and the response we continue to receive is overwhelmingly positive.  Since launch, there have been a few changes that have been made to the program to assist you in running queries faster.  As such, it is important to make sure that you are running the latest version of X-Ray. more v

Radios Leading Advertisers - Complimentary Access For X-Ray Subscribers

While you may already know that AT&T, Verizon and McDonalds were the three top spot radio advertisers in 2008, did you know that Nationwide Insurance climbed from 92nd to 22nd on the list?  Did you know that they more than doubled their spending in Radio?  How about IKEA which more than doubled their spending as well?  Also were you aware that IKEA spends 19% of its Radio dollars on the Adult Contemporary formatted stations and over 10% on both the Urban AC and Hot AC formats.  You can see all of this, and more, in Radio’s Leading Advertisers. more v

Market Industry Growth

While the Economy has impacted the majority of product categories over the course of the past 6 months, that doesn’t mean all of their underlying subcategories are doing poorly.  Take, for instance, the Financial Services industry.  We have seen in most markets where the revenue from the Mortgage industry is down, but some markets have seen positive results from Banks, Investment Firms or the Other Financial Services sector, which includes Debt Relief.  Looking at the subcategories in an Industry could point you towards opportunities for upside. There are always bright spots that you may focus on.  The Market Industry Growth query will help you find those categories that are back on the upswing or will help you find the subcategories that may be outperforming others in their area.  more v

Interval Shares Query

Budget time is quickly coming up and what better way to get started than looking at the historical data presented in X-Ray.  Using the Interval Shares Query, you can look at the data for any range of months that you are interested in, including a trailing 12 months.  This query shows you the spending for each of the non-exclusive accounts spending in your market along with your station’(s) revenue and share for that advertiser.  While many of you run this query quarterly to find those cyclical trend advertisers as well as to make sure that you have a starting point to pick up last year’s advertisers, many of you are realizing that this is a great query to run when preparing your initial and updated budgets.  By running the query over a full 12 months, you will get a good picture of the outlook for the next 12 months. more v

X-Ray Training

Miller Kaplan has started a series of on-site market visits to present refresher trainings on the best ways to use X-Ray.  We will be conducting these workshops through October and will be contacting you soon to arrange for an on-site training if you would like.  In the interim, we continue to do Webex training for you and your staff with a live copy of your data so that you can get the most out of any training session with us.  If you would like to schedule a Webinar, please contact David Silverman at 818-487-1136 or via e-mail at dsilverman@millerkaplan.com
